Anthony Gormley: Asian Field
British artist Antony Gormley created an installation artwork, ‘Asian Field’, inviting 300 villagers from Xiangshan village to make 200,000 clay figures. The sea of figures symbolizes China’s enormous population and vast territory. ‘Asian Field’ is one of the inaugurating exhibitions at M+, the first global visual culture museum in Asia. Its creation process and interviews of participants and artists were documented in this video produced by Plate Creations and M+ collaboratively, so as to tell the audience the meaning behind the artwork.
