CUHK Centre for China Studies

Film is a way to understand society and the culture of a place. In this video, we interviewed Kristof Van Den Troost, a film scholar and an assistant professor of the Centre for China Studies at CUHK, to share how his passion for Chinese society and culture was ignited by Hong Kong films. To further reinforce the connection of film and our interviewee, we projected the corresponding films at the background while he was sharing. The video highlights CUHK’s culturally distinctive location and its multiple resources for pursuring a degree in China studies.
